Our children are the future, and currently they are spending a great deal of time on electronic devices and often very little time outside in nature. Being in contact with the natural world not only increases appreciation of all the earth has to offer, but fosters a love of and desire to protect it. And the bonus is that consistent immersion in the natural world lessens anxiety and promotes peace of mind. At Columbia Breaks we are dedicated to getting children—and adults—outside and stimulating and enhancing their natural sense of wonder and engagement.

We are all becoming increasingly aware of the fact that wildfire and its effects is having a significant impact on our lives, not just in North Central Washington, but all over the world. It is easy to feel very overwhelmed at times trying to understand our position and role in this time of change, but Columbia Breaks endeavors to stay on top of the latest developments in the fire world, and to offer on the ground, in the moment updates and resources for the local community, particularly when we are immediately impacted by a wildfire.
